I have been in the business of offering my services as a virtual assistant for many years. As you can imagine, in this time I have heard a range of excuses as to why a person or a business cannot possibly use me and my services. I wanted to share my top excuses with you to show you that you are not alone when it comes to be worried or reluctant to outsource.
Now I know that you believe that you and your business are unique but the reality is, that the reasons people sight for not using a virtual assistant are remarkably similar. So here they are. I wonder how many will resonate with you?
“I cannot afford a VA!”
So many people believe that the do not have the spare funds to pay someone else. You only pay for the time that you use a VA. We are flexible and can work hours as you need them. All businesses have busy periods so let us help in those times. Remember, when you are working on non-income generating tasks, you are taking away the opportunity to generate more income in your business. This is a huge cost!
“I can do it myself.”
Possibly, when you first started your business, you may have had surplus time and could easily manage many tasks yourself but as you get busier, these tasks often get pushed in to your evenings and weekends and before you know it you are working round the clock. Over time, this will mean you become less efficient.
“They won’t understand my business!”
A good VA will soon get to know you and your business. They can also help you create processes for tasks within your business. This not only takes the pressure off you but can actually add value to your business.
“It would be easier to employ someone.”
There are many costs associated with employing staff. Remember, if you employ someone you have to commit to a certain number of hours per week, pay wages, super, workers compensation as well as the set up costs of creating another workstation but you can save all of this by using a VA.
“By the time I have told them what to do, I could have done it myself”
This may be true the first time you need to hand over a task but what about the second, third, fourth or more time that your VA completes that task for you. I believe if you take some time now and relieve yourself of repetitive tasks, you can move forward and grown your business. Don’t kid yourself that you are indispensable when it comes to every task in your business.
So next time you find yourself undertaking the same job over again, ask yourself if one of these excuses is holding you back from outsourcing!
